I want to see a world where everyone is allowed to thrive; where love and compassion, kindness and forgiveness are not merely values we intellectually hold in common, but we are actualizing collectively. It is not an easy journey, this space of time between our Fear and our awakening to Love. We need to lean on one another.
I have some heroes and heroines whose writings have made enormous contributions to my spiritual, emotional and creative growth. One thing they hold in common is their honesty and forthrightness regarding their own journeys–and those of their characters in the stories they write. I heard once that humility is simply being honest with yourself and others about who you are and what you have done–the good, the fantastic, and the ugly. When an author is willing to share about his or her dark side and how they are working through it as well as their victories and achievements, hope rises within me and I am encouraged to keep on keeping on.
Because of the example of my heroes and heroines, in my effort to “be the change I want to see” in the world, as a writer I choose to share with you some of the stories from my journey. Perhaps you will find a little nourishment for your soul, a little light, a little joy. I wish you well. Be strong and courageous. Keep on keeping on, doing the good work that is yours to do to fill our world with hope and love.
